Microsoft Dynamics GP year-end 2025: Payroll Secure Act 2.0 considerations

On the Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog, Terry Heley introduced a new payroll topic related to the SECURE 2.0 Act. She pointed out that this law was created to help people save more for retirement, make the rules easier to understand, and lower the cost for employers to offer retirement plans.

Heley stated that starting January 1, 2026, employees who are 50 or older and earned more than $150,000 in FICA wages from their employer in the previous year (adjusted for inflation) must make all catch-up contributions as Roth (after-tax) contributions. This means employers who offer catch-up contributions must treat the extra contributions made by “high wage earners” as Roth contributions. This applies to most retirement plans.

Heley wrote that there are no specific changes in the Dynamics GP 2025 year-end update related to the SECURE 2.0 Act. She noted that the goal of her blog post is simply to give you ideas on how to manage these rules in Dynamics GP using tools that already exist.

Heley also created some easy SmartLists to help you identify employees who earn more than the limit and a SmartList to calculate employee ages if you need it.

#GPPT GP Power Tools Build 32.2 hotfix released

On the Winthrop Development Consultants blog, David Musgrave wrote that Build 32.2 of GP Power Tools was released on December 2, 2025.
