Playing tag with your GL: Financial tags in Dynamics 365 Finance

An author writing on the Ellipse Solutions blog noted that you've got stacks of general ledger transactions, and a crowd of managers, directors, and finance leaders all asking for detailed looks at the numbers, whether it's by product line or customer group. 

The author wrote that it would likely be easier if you could just label those transactions so reports and inquiries were simple to run. And you can do exactly that with financial tags in Dynamics 365 Finance. 

The author pointed out that financial tags don’t take the place of your regular financial dimensions as they stay part of your GL setup. Instead, tags act like extra labels you can attach to transactions as you enter them. 

The author noted that they let you organize and group transactions without making major changes to your GL. And the author added that if you ever need to stop using them, you can turn tags off without losing the history.
