Safety stock journals: calculation logic in Microsoft Dynamics 365 SCM

On her blog, Galyna Federova asked readers to imagine that they have a store and they need to ensure that they never run out of popular items, such as bread or milk. She explained that safety stock is like having a backup supply in the event you sell more of your products than you expect or if your supplier takes longer to deliver your orders.

Federova wrote that there's a tool in  D365 Supply Chain Management called safety stock journal that looks at how many of specific items that you've sold in the past to figure out how much extra you should keep in stock so you won’t run out.

In her blog post, Federova offered a scenario to show you exactly how this tool works.

What is the purpose of the two new XDS security roles?

Writing on his Dynamicspedia blog, André Arnaud De Calavon stated that recently he discovered two new security roles in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations that seem to be related to eXtensible data security (XDS).

In his blog post, Arnaud De Calavon discussed the two new security roles and whether they're useful. He pointed out that each role has the word "bypass" in its name, which means that it would elevate the rights, so users will see all the data, regardless of activated security policies as part of the XDS framework. Arnaud De Calavon stated that although he's not 100% sure, he thinks Microsoft added these roles in version 10.0.37.

He wrote that the description of one of the new security roles, XDSDataAccessPolicyBypassRole, is clear – If you add this to a user, the permissions become role-based and indeed will bypass the security policies. However, the description of the second security role, XDSPolicyByPassRoleScenarioTestRole, isn't all that clear.

After doing some additional research, Arnaud De Calavon was able to explain the purpose of this role security policy. He also discussed when you should bypass data security policies.
