How to run consolidation in Dynamics 365 Business Central

Writing on the Evolution Business Systems blog, Elvin Narain walked readers through the steps for running consolidation in Dynamics 365 Business Central for companies within the same database as the consolidated company.

After explaining what consolidation is, Narain outlines how to set up a consolidated company as well as the process for consolidating the data in Business Central. Narain explained that users need to set up consolidation information on all general ledger accounts for each subsidiary company, set a business unit for each subsidiary on the consolidated company, specify exchange rates for consolidations, set dimension information for consolidations on each subsidiary company, consolidate the data, and lastly process consolidation eliminations.

Detailed error message with call stack

On his D365 Business Central – Code Analysis Tool blog, Naveen Gour noted that Microsoft added lot of new features to Business Central Wave 2 2021 (BC 19).

The most important feature from the developer and end user point of view is to get the detailed error message. In BC 19 if any error pops up in the application then user can see the detailed information. Microsoft has enhanced the error message window with a lot of additional details.

Gour stated that when users get the detailed information they can share it with a developer or partner for quick analysis.

Nour explained how you can get a detailed error message and to demonstrate it, he created one erroneous transaction and tried to post it. He then received an error related to dimensions. In his blog post, Gour discussed the several different columns representing the different kind of error details. He explained that once the user clicks on the error call stack it will show details about how the code was executed in sequence and which lines of code caused the error.
