HGTV and ERP Project Change Orders
A good friend of mine loves HGTV, to the point where it is always running in the background…sort of like ESPN at my house but without the daily Top Ten Plays.
If you are not familiar with HGTV, it is an American basic cable and satellite television channel that primarily broadcasts reality programming related to home improvement and real estate. Shows like Flip or Flop and Property Brothers developed a hardcore following and have created real estate's version of Kardashian reality stars, along with the prerequisite personal scandals and tabloid covers.
So, what’s the point relative to ERP change orders? Getting there…slowly.
Every episode has a generic story arc. A house (the ERP project) is identified, typically by a couple (the client), as the perfect new home.
With just a few “minor” improvements (the RFP).
Cue the show stars (the implementation partner/VAR). After listening intently to the desired “fixes”, normally outlined by one enthusiastic homeowner, mixed in with quick cuts to an comparably frowning and pessimistic partner, we are introduced to the improvement budget (the proposal).
Can you guess what happens next?
