Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations reporting and analytics: Know your options

Today, customers have numerous options for addressing operational and analytical reporting needs within Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. When weighing your options, one must consider both the report authoring tool as well as the data source in order to develop a holistic approach.

In the first part of this two part series, we explored the three different ways to author and embed your reports and visualizations right into your D365 application.  This capability is part of Microsoft's overarching strategy to federate analytics across the organization and make Power BI as ubiquitous as Excel.  

This article will discuss the seven standard report authoring tools available, and the six places from which to source and curate your D365 data for those reports. D365 customers should expect to leverage a variety of these methods depending on the particular reporting requirement or use case
