Dynamics 365 Profile: Mexican Microsoft MVP achieves professional growth through community goals
In October, Microsoft named Sergio Macias its first Dynamics 365/CRM MVP in Mexico, an award that makes Macias proud and also gives him credibility to do even more in the community.
"Before becoming an MVP, it was hard to organize events and MeetUps here in Monterrey," he says. "I looked for companies to sponsor the events when I was just a consultant, but they said they wouldn't help me because they didn't think my MeetUps were going to be as successful as I was telling them. They didn't think I was going to do it."
Now that he has been named an MVP, "directors from companies are calling me for advice, to ask me questions, for advice, for recommendations for other people who know Dynamics or even to ask what the salary should be for senior consultants," say Macias. "It feels pretty good."
Currently, a consultant at Los Angeles-based Definity First, Macias works on Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM projects as well as Power BI implementations, working with customers and other IT teams. As a consultant, Macias says he helps customers find new and better ways of working so they can increase productivity.
In addition, Macias is trying to create his own company in Mexico, "So in my free time, I look for customers and opportunities where I can [offer] my own services for Dynamics 365," he says.
