Now that the Dutch snacks have been enjoyed and the bikes locked up, we've scoured our reporter's notebook to bring you the rest of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV, CRM, AX, and 365 news items from last week's Summit EMEA 2017 event. Among the noteworthy details are product renaming plans, user interface updates, migration possibilities, and roadmap guidance.
Dynamics 365 CRM apps about to get a big new forms redesign
Form loading speed in Dynamics 365/CRM has improved in recent years, but it is still seen as a weakness against competitors. But that could soon change for the better.
"It's going to change, it's going to change radically," said Microsoft principal program manager Matt Barbour in a Q&A with CRMUG members at the event. "Certain things we've disclose and some we haven't. I'll paraphrase by saying we're going through a ground up redesign of the UX engine. This is different than past efforts."
While the transformation will be significant, Barbour and other Microsoft officials were careful to explain that the new technology will not break legacy form designs that are in production. Current interfaces will transition safely. And the new approach will roll out incrementally across the product.
"We took learnings from the mobile platform, from the Interactive Service Hub, and have blended those together to create a new render experience that you'll start seeing soon," Barbour said.
Expect more information at a May 3 Microsoft event that will be at least partly focused on Dynamics and will be hosted by CEO Satya Nadella and other high level Microsoft executives.
