Microsoft prepares partner update on Dynamics GP and 365 plans at reIMAGINE 2016

Microsoft plans to update partners on its Dynamics GP roadmap and attempt to tackle their sales, marketing, and development questions at this week's reIMAGINE 2016 conference.

The event comes after partners have had a first deep look at Dynamics 365 pricing and packaging (via a 173 slide deck presented last week), and Microsoft is expected to make the case for a two-pronged opportunity for GP partners that includes both GP and Dynamics 365 Business Edition.

Much is already known about the next release, GP 2016 R2, which will include enhancements to the web client, workflow, and cloud deployment capabilities. And Microsoft has advised that updates in 2017 will include OData support for multi-tenant deployments and further Power BI integration to the web client interface, but the GP team should share more this week.

Dynamics 365 Business Edition is expected to be a key area of discussion at the event. Microsoft product manager Pam Misialek explained in a new interview with MSDynamicsWorld.com that the Dynamics 365 opportunity should stand in contrast to what traditional GP partners already have with their ERP practices.

"Dynamics 365 is a really different business opportunity than a standard GP practice. It is a SaaS model, it can't be customized, it has a lower price point and [partners need to] think about selling it in an automated way.
