How to Print Any File in Dynamics AX

On the Art Of Creation - Dynamics AX Blog (the everyday life of a Dynamics AX developer), Klaas Deforche offers some advice to help you print files from Dynamics AX, including batch.

Deforche offers two methods that will help you do just that.

1. Printing text files using the copy method

This was the first method I used, and it works flawlessly when using text files, such as .txt or .csv files. It also works great on .prn files.

To print such a file, you can simple copy the file to the printer. (You can see sample code here.)

He says it's an easy method, however you should not use it on binary file types or you'll end up with an endless stream of pages with unreadable characters on it. Yes, he says he's tried it.
