Microsoft CRM 2011 Update Rollup 10 Shows Noticeable Performance Boost in Outlook Client
Microsoft CRM Update Rollup 10 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, which was release on August 16, offers fixes that pertain to everything from the Outlook Client to performance to compatibility with Windows 8, Internet Explorer 10, and Office 2013 Preview.
The release that was made available on October 4, 2012 is in fact a re-release. As the TechNet article on UR10 explains:
"Due to several issues experienced by users who deployed the initial Update Rollup 10 (build number 5.0.9690.2730), Microsoft re-released Update Rollup 10 on October 4th, 2012. The new version (build number 5.0.9690.2740) replaced the original UR10 files on Microsoft Download Center."
To get a sense of the initial issues that were reported, some were voiced in the initial UR10 release announcement comments.
On the bright side, and assuming the re-release resolves many of the earlier problems, Chris Cognetta, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Manager at Tribridge said CRM Update Rollup 10 "provides drastic" search and SQL performance improvement.
He said one of the main functions Tribridge has been testing is using the Outlook Client within quick searches. Cognetta said Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Outlook Client uses a completely different SQL query than its Web client counterpart before Update Rollup 7.
Cognetta said there are still limited performance issues with Update Rollup 8 because of the way the scripts are dynamically created (there was no Update Rollup 9 due to the changed release plans in the spring of 2012
