Why Users Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0
In a NAV User Group webinar, a recent adopter of MicrosoftDynamics NAV 5.0 shared her
company's relief at the comprehensive and rapid tracking abilities of NAV
5.0.
"My company upgraded to NAV 5.0 for item tracking," said the user who's company had previously used NAV 3.6. "NAV 5.0 tracks every order that comes in, from a purchase order to a return, to sending a fax to a vendor, to inventory. It tracks everything right there within minutes."
This glowing first-hand review seems to coincide with Microsoft's claims that NAV 5.0 will "enhance speed and efficiency in performing everyday tasks" through improved automation and tracking of mission-critical events, such as potential item shortages, production processes, and cash flow issues. In addition to having Convergence 2007 and 2008 sessions dedicated to the application's enhanced item tracking, Microsoft's " What's new in Dynamics NAV 5.0?" marketing page specifically calls out the ability of NAV 5.0 to "simplify item tracking by searching and analyzing on lot and serial numbers more easily." The company also cites the product's ability to better implement and track prepayments, standardize integration with item tracking, and trace costs and data.
Kitting in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0
Another member of the NAVUG special interest group (SIG), whose company has been running NAV 4.0 for two years, commented that NAV 4.0 has been underperforming in terms of integration of item tracking, inventory, and the management of kits. The recent adopter happily remarked that NAV 5.0 has improved the management of kits and streamlined related processes by integrating the tracking of company's kits and kit resources into sales, inventory, and accounting operations.
