Renewed Emphasis on Compliance in Dynamics AX and NAV
As Dynamics products attract publicly-held customers, Microsoft is increasingly pushing the ability of its offerings to meet regulatory compliance standards emerging in both the United States and Europe.
In an announcement yesterday about a biotech company selecting Dynamics AX 4.0, Microsoft led off by pointing out that the customer had made its decision based on the ease with which it would be able to meet requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
"PURE Bioscience has selected Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 to speed and integrate its business processes, helping to support the company's compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and with the requirements of numerous regulatory authorities, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States."
Microsoft added, "As a public company, PURE needed to remain compliant with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. It also sought a way to produce its financials more rapidly because its growth would move the company into the category of an accelerated Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filer during 2008. PURE had been relying significantly on legacy systems and spreadsheets for financial operations, but management saw a need to both integrate its data and find advanced technology for automating its processes to help manage the significant growth and increased complexity that the company anticipated."
Microsoft said that PURE's implementation will be handled by partner Advanced Systems Integration Inc. of Lake Forest, Calif., which "will implement Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 Advanced Management Edition with additional source code that allows customization of proprietary processes and procedures that could not be met by any other solution."
