Monitoring and telemetry in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

Writing on his blog, Martin Dráb stated that many Azure services support Application Insights to monitor applications out of the box. For example, connect an Azure function to Application Insights and it will automatically start collecting information about performance, failed requests, and so on. Drab noted that although Application Insights API from D365 Finance and Operations is possible (previously several people had developed custom solutions for that), now Microsoft has included a solution out of the box in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations to monitor applications. The solution is called monitoring and telemetry.

Drab stated that because there are quite a few blog posts about how to set up the monitoring telemetry feature, he wasn't going to write about that in his blog post.

But if you aren’t familiar with Application Insights/Azure Monitor, let me give you one example how it can be useful. Support personnel and developers are often interested in details of exceptions thrown in the application.

In his blog post, Drab noted that if Application Insights is enabled in D365FO, it automatically collects information about these exceptions and you can see an overview of exceptions in a certain period. He explored query logs, logging other kinds of information, and more.

Quality management process in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management (SCM)

On the CloudFronts blog, Chinmay Mayekar wrote about the quality management process in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management and covered all the necessary setups required for quality management.

Mayekar offered an example of an automobile company that purchased brake pads from a vendor. When the company receives the car brake pads in the warehouse against a purchase order, they undergo specific quality checks.

In his blog post, Mayekar setup the steps necessary to set up the quality management process in D365 SCM, which are: creation of test instruments, creation of tests, and creation of test variables. Mayekar also wrote about various features of the quality management process.

Can you add your own features to feature management?

Writing on his Dynamicspedia blog, André Arnaud De Calavon stated that when Microsoft releases new versions of D365FO, it lists a lot of enhancements on a workspace called feature management where you can review the new features and decide to implement them in your organization.
