Windows 10: Any Excitement (or Disruption) Among Microsoft Dynamics Partners, Customers?

Windows 10 and Satya Nadella

With 14 million+ downloads in the 24 hours following the July 29 launch, critics and users (largely consumers) have given Windows 10 generally high marks for, for example, the Cortana voice command's integration with the new Edge browser; also Edge's annotation feature (see graphic), allowing you to write all over a webpage and share it, which has clear QA utility.

But what does it mean to the Microsoft Dynamics ERP and CRM community? We checked in with a few Microsoft partners for their opinions. Responses ranged from a shrug of the shoulders to excitement - over features like a common profile across multiple devices, over the SaaS direction Microsoft is taking, and about CEO Satya Nadella, a veteran software professional who, when it comes to usable features and user experience, truly "gets it."

Where partners are unified is on the need for due diligence, and testing Windows 10 with critical business applications before a switchover.

Weighing in are:

  • Neil Wainwright, CEO and cofounder of Nexonia which offers (among other solutions) Nexonia Expenses for Dynamics GP.
  • John Maddalozzo, Vice President of Engineering and Jeremy Gunn, Director of Professional Services at Journyx, providers of time and expense solutions for Microsoft Dynamics GP, NAV, SL, AX and Project
  • Marc Driessen, Partner and Vice President of DMS iTech, an outsourced IT provider and a Microsoft Silver Data Platform Partner and Gold ERP Partner (among other certifications).
