Microsoft Dynamics Profile: First-time GP MVP Rod O’Connor excited for new opportunities

Rod O'ConnorWhen most people are named Microsoft Dynamics MVPs, they typically get high-fives and congratulatory handshakes from friends and colleagues and hugs and kisses from family members.

However, first-time Dynamics GP MVP Rod O'Connor received something a bit different - a slice of cheesecake.

"We had talked about it with my kids when it happened, and my family always celebrates the wins, even the small ones," says O'Connor, owner of Briware Solutions Inc., a Dynamics GP and Dynamics 365 consulting firm in Toronto. "So we went out to dinner that night [January 1] to a local pub that we go to quite a bit."

During dinner, O'Connor's nine-year-old son, Quinn, excused himself, telling his family he was going to the washroom. Then shortly after Quinn returned to the table, the waitress brought O'Connor a piece of cheesecake.

"My son had told her I had won this big award at work and would she please bring me something [to celebrate]," O'Connor says. "It was very funny and definitely one of those proud dad moments."

O'Connor started Briware in 2012, working part time while still working as a GP consultant at another Microsoft partner in Canada. Rod has been working with ERP solutions for 19 years, 13 of those years focusing on Dynamics GP and related technologies. His experience covers all aspects of the system, both technical and functional.

"Within six months, it was a full-time gig," he says. "Our philosophy is one that people seem to like. Since then we've grown. Right now there's myself and three other consultants."
