Ferranti and Microsoft Sign Global Agreement for Energy and Utility Industry

Microsoft Corp. and Ferranti Computer Systems have signed an agreement making Ferranti Microsoft's priority global alliance partner in the energy and utility industry.

Ferranti's flagship product, MECOMS, a business support system based on Microsoft Dynamics AX, helps energy and utility companies around the world deal with changes in the market.

MECOMS extends Dynamics AX with specific functionality and best practices for the utility industry. MECOMS also offers flexibility, efficiency and business insight to help utility companies save money, according to Ferranti officials. Microsoft and Ferranti have previously worked together to align product development and certification.

The companies decided to enter in a multi-year global ISV agreement because of the growing international success of MECOMS as well as Microsoft's determination to increase the sales of Dynamics AX in the enterprise market.

Ferranti also announced the global availability of MECOMS 2012 in conjunction with the release of Dynamics AX 2012.

Doug Kennedy, Vice President Dynamics Partners at Microsoft, said Microsoft needs partners like Ferranti who can leverage their deep vertical expertise to deliver world class solutions to support the specialized needs of these verticals.
