Dynamics Profile: From newbie to veteran, one GP user's journey

You could say Palma Hirschfelder Wurzel's introduction to Microsoft Dynamics GP was something of a trial by fire. What helped her and her company's GP solution emerge from those early days, perhaps not surprisingly, were qualities like resourcefulness, curiosity, and connection to the community.

Palma Hirschfelder Wurzel"About seven years ago we had multiple divisions that were operating on different accounting, so when the choice was made to go with Dynamics GP, I got involved in the implementation. Never having done one before, it was pretty interesting," recalls Wurzel, Manager of IT and Business Applications at Intertech Security, which delivers customized security solutions that integrate disparate systems to help companies reduce risk, operate more efficiently and save money.

Wurzel was the job cost accountant at Intertech when she first began working with Dynamics GP. Before Intertech, she had worked as a project manager in the construction industry in the San Francisco Bay area doing low-voltage systems installation, where she first got involved in job cost accounting. A varied background to be sure, but not one that had ever intersected with the world of Dynamics GP.

"[At Intertech] I was brought in for the configuration of our third-party job costing module and the entire project had stalled and I ended up taking it over and finishing it - figuring out what needed to be done, setting a new go-live date and then working directly with our Microsoft partner to get the implementation," ...
