Dynamics Profile: From Bangkok to India to Australia, one Dynamics AX professional's journey

Dilip Nair's love of Microsoft Dynamics AX began in Bangkok, Thailand in 2004.  At that time, Nair, who is now a private contractor, was an IT specialist at Aeroflex International Co. Ltd. responsible for implementing Dynamics AX across different units of the company. He also architected Dynamics AX mobile solutions for the sales team

"As I saw the system, I learned about it," he recalls. "I also did some troubleshooting of the database and performance tuning for various kinds of reports. I helped the company simplify the reporting process. I created two or three management reports around business intelligence. That's how I got started with AX."

Nair, who is now based in Australia, tries to take an active role in the Dynamics AX community. He works with a range of clients, with other Dynamics professionals, and through the greater community by passing along his lessons learned on his blog, which covers Dynamics AX and related Microsoft technologies.

After Thailand, Nair headed to Australia for a time, working as an assistant manager for Keane Australia Micropayment Consortium Pty Ltd on the initial phase of a smart card project for The Transport Ticketing Authority in Melbourne.

"They were rolling out Dynamics AX as the back-end process for their smart-card system," Nair said. "It rolled out in 2005 and I worked in the initial stages doing the design architecting and the integration work with AX and other technologies."

Nair also spent part of his career working for Microsoft India as a senior development lead.  While there, he and the development team worked to derive the ERP activities framework design and to build a deployment framework for Dynamics AX projects.
