Canadian Tire and Microsoft announced a seven year partnership to use Azure for retail innovation.

Canadian Tire plans to modernize its infrastructure, access Microsoft cloud products, and upskill its workforce. The initiative fits into a broader effort to expand its omnichannel approach to the market.

The company identified three key areas of focus for the partnership. It hopes that Azure will provide a trusted platform for flexibility, scalability, and growth. Additionally, it hopes to boost digital capabilities and integrate AI and machine learning into the Canadian retail experience.

"Canadian Tire Corporation's partnership with Microsoft will enable us to further modernize our capabilities and systems, rapidly expediting our digital transformation and adaptability, a key component of our growth strategy. By combining our unrivalled understanding of Canadians with Microsoft's cutting-edge technology and expertise we will achieve greater stability and scale and unleash our collective expertise to drive exciting retail innovation not only at CTC but across Canada,” stated Greg Hicks, President and CEO, Canadian Tire Corporation.
