Should It Stay or Should It Go: Dynamics ERP Customers Assess Transition from Modules to Business Ready Licensing

If you buy your Microsoft Dynamics ERP solution under Module Based Licensing, Microsoft wants you to know you may benefit from transitioning to Business Ready Licensing (BRL), which offers you a larger, more flexible set of functions and features to help you enhance the capabilities of your solution.

Transition from Module Based Licensing to Business Ready Licensing can help you get the most of your existing investment in Microsoft Dynamics ERP systems, said Rich Beliveau, ERP Technology Specialist at Microsoft, during the recent Microsoft webcast: Transitioning From Module Based Licensing To Business Ready Licensing, held for members of the Dynamics GP User Group.

"The bottom line is to figure out how you can leverage the Dynamics GP, AX, SL, or NAV technology you've already invested in and use it to its fullest," Beliveau said. "And that doesn't always mean acquiring new licenses, and features and functions and granules or modules."

Business Ready Licensing is a suite of modules or granules that Microsoft packages together so when you're looking for capabilities and functionality you would buy the suite of functionality and deploy those capabilities at will, he said.

For the Dynamics AX, Dynamics GP, Dynamics NAV, and Dynamics SL products, Microsoft has introduced these main BRL packages.

  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Essentials edition-an integrated financial and supply chain management solution for companies that need core financial management and trade functionality;
  • Microsoft Dynamics Advanced Management edition-this gets you the more robust analytics capabilities as well as the more advanced manufacturing, project accounting, more robust supply chain management capabilities;
  • Microsoft Dynamics Advance Management Enterprise-these are additional capabilities that may be cost prohibitive for some companies to license so you ...
