Seeking to Strengthen Retailer-Customer Bond, Microsoft Announces Dynamics AX 2012 for Retail

Microsoft Corp. will release Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 for Retail on Feb.1, 2012. Announced at the National Retail Federation's annual conference, Dynamics AX for Retail is designed to provide midsize and enterprise retailers with complete AX functionality, including cross-channel capabilities, social and mobile commerce, enriched point of sale (POS), and powerful enhancements for merchandising to help retailers deliver improved experiences for their shoppers.

Among the features of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 for Retail are:          

  • Connect to customers. Multichannel capabilities let customers more easily make purchases and pick up their purchases, as well as to return or replace items. Support for social and mobile commerce lets retailers offer promotions, discounts or coupons targeted to marketplaces or social networks.
  • Empower employees. Orders can be created and managed at the POS. And Role Centers and dashboards give employees the data required to deliver relevant information to each individual user.
  • Relevant planning capabilities. Integrated multichannel management gives retailers the information they need to anticipate trends.

Retailers that have chosen Dynamics AX for Retail over the past year include AkzoNobel Decorative Paints, Ashley Furniture Industries, DavidsTea., Kwit-Fit Nederland Groep B.V., Malabar Gold, Mattress Firm, P.F. Chang's China Bistro Inc., Simon Pearce and Turisme de Barcelona. According to Microsoft, any number of ISVs are building solutions on top of the Dynamics AX for Retail platform.
