Maybe someone didn't see this coming? As soon as the announcement of the new deal between Microsoft and Salesforce went out, the angry responses from Dynamics CRM professionals began on Twitter.

Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) chief Kirill Tatarinov quickly issued a blog post celebrating the announcement, not for its CRM implications, but for the value the deal can bring to customers of both organizations.

Tatarinov believes the partnership "is yet another inspiring example of how two companies that compete vigorously on many fronts and in different areas can also find ways to come together to benefit our customers."

Competition between the companies on the CRM front remains a priority for Tatarinov's organization, of course, but "today is not about our competition.  It is about partnering with others in the industry and giving customers solutions that best meet their business needs," he wrote.

Based on the details of the partnership that were announced by the two companies, much of the problem that Dynamics CRM loyalists seem to be having is less about the technology and more about the new hurdles it could put up in competitive situations, which are known to get downright ugly between the two companies.
