Put away the Defibrillator, the Microsoft Dynamics Community Site Has Pulled Through

Almost exactly three years ago I posted and article on my website suggesting that Microsoft's Dynamics Live site was on life support and desperately in need of a defibrillator. The post has been stubbornly stuck as one of the most viewed posts on the website. Well, I'm happy to report that you can put away your defibrillator, the patient is just fine.

For a while "Dynamics Live" - re-branded as the Dynamics Community - was in a rut. The site was full of general finance and accounting articles that had nothing to do with Dynamics GP.  There was no special content to distinguish it from the mass of other finance and accounting news sites. The team assured me that things would improve and slowly they did.

First the site got some new branding. It's now more community focused and can be found at community.Dynamics.com. Over the last three years, the Dynamics Community site has added more content from bloggers and community sites like MSDynamicsWorld, which significantly increased the relevance of information and helped expose users to the broader Dynamics community. And Microsoft's decision to shut down its newsgroups moved most of that activity to the Dynamics Community forums, causing significant growth there as well.

The biggest change is the inclusion of Dynamics Community information on the Home Page of Dynamics GP 2010. This represents a huge step forward for Microsoft. It brings relevant, timely data directly into the accounting system where people can put the information to immediate use.
