News Review: Microsoft Dynamics CRM, ERP compete for healthcare IT opportunities

In August, Microsoft and its Dynamics ERP and CRM partners highlighted new opportunities they are pursuing in the healthcare industry. Let's look back at some of those projects, products, and initiatives.

Early in August, Microsoft highlighted three health and human services organizations that had selected Dynamics CRM. Our Kids of Miami-Dade/Monroe, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) and the Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH) all selected the product for their various needs. Our Kids will be integrating a range of information to centralize the visibility of the various services for individual children, including medical data, school, legal, and criminal justice.

And Mississippi DMH is using Dynamics CRM with CoCENTIRIX CARETILES apps to both manage cases for community members in residential care, some of whom have communication limitations. Microsoft's Marie Huwe explained that:

"Dynamics CRM allows DMH's staff to easily access resident information from any one of the dozen state programs DMH operates. It also helps them better understand the needs, wants and feelings of those who otherwise couldn't express themselves and facilitates learning opportunities through games, interactive quizzes and more."

Microsoft also announced a plan to build a new mobile health management solution with TracFone. It will utilize Dynamics CRM, Microsoft HealthVault, Office 365, and Windows Phone.
