Microsoft Dynamics AX on a Surface

Microsoft kicked off its formal launch activities for the new Dynamics AX on Tuesday, announcing that the Azure-native ERP solution is now available in 137 markets and 40 languages.

The new release, previously known by codename "AX 7" has been expected for well over a year (as MSDW has covered, see some recent links below) and has been discussed and previewed at various conferences, even as Microsoft continued to release updates to Dynamics AX 2012. The new AX features virtually the same business logic of AX 2012 R3, but with a new user interface framework and with an Azure-native architecture that takes advantage of newest Microsoft cloud database technology, computing resources, and analytics tools like Power BI, and the Cortana Analytics Suite.

Some were featured at the launch event's keynote presentation including Priva, Hagler Systems, Smiles, and Umbra Group. Microsoft has also publicly referenced Renault Sport F1 (formerly Lotus F1) in recent appearances promoting the new Dynamics AX.

Along with the standard AX software, Microsoft is spotlighting more than fifty ISV solutions built with the new Dynamics AX and available through the Azure Marketplace. Microsoft advises that more than 100 additional solutions are in development for the Marketplace.
