Microsoft extends support for Dynamics AX 2012 R3

Last week, Microsoft released Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, touting its ability to help businesses take advantage of cloud services, run agile operations that exceed customer needs, and engage customers on their terms across the web, social, apps and mobile.

And there are a number of reasons to upgrade to Dynamics AX 2012 R3, according to experts.

Some of those reasons include:

  • Significant improvements in the retail portions of AX 2012 R3 through the tighter integration of new and existing features that are each responsible for various parts of the retail process
  • Enhancements to the budget planning component to enable organizations operating multiple companies (legal entities) to share more services across them, build and analyze budgetary what-if scenarios, and create budgets based on allocation rules and financial dimensions
  • To get ready to upgrade to "Rainier," the next major release of Dynamics AX
  • Advances related to architecture and devices, like new Windows 8 applications for Point of Sale, and Business Analyzer, as well as platform updates like Microsoft Azure laaS, disaster recovery, Lifecycle Services, Dynamics AX Cumulative Update,

In addition, the Dynamics AX team has announced that it is extending mainstream support for customers upgrading to, or purchasing, Dynamics AX 2012 R3 by two years, to October 11, 2018.

The support has been extended to give all customers the standard product support lifecycle transition timeline. This extended support timeline gives customers more flexibility to choose the best timing for their businesses to upgrade to the next major release, according to the Dynamics AX ...
