When David Musgrave departed Microsoft, the future of the Microsoft Dynamics GP Support Debugging Tool (SDT) became uncertain. The tool, and David's long time support of it, was generally considered a source of tension to some degree inside of Microsoft during his years there.  SDT wasn't an officially supported product and it received little support beyond Musgrave's own efforts. Yet SDT gained a loyal following among GP users and professionals who valued the various capabilities, giving Musgrave some space to continue supporting and updating it over time.

After departing Microsoft in 2014, Musgrave reported that he had worked out an agreement with Microsoft to obtain the Support Debugging Tool source code. Two months later, he has now relaunched the product as GP Power Tools. It will initially be released for the following Dynamics GP versions:

  • v11.0: Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010
  • v12.0: Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and GP 2013 R2
  • v14.0: Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015

In addition to the same capabilities as Support Debugging tool, GP Power Tools will offer simpler navigation, database validation, and other enhancements.  It will be priced at a special introductory annual subscription rate of US$365.00.

For now, the free Support Debugging Tool for GP 2010 and GP 2013 (inc. GP 2013 R2) remains available from http://winthropdc.com/SDT.
