Microsoft Dynamics GP Roadmap: GP 2015 R2 due by June, R3 in 2016

The next release of Microsoft Dynamics GP, GP 2015 R2, will be available by June 2015. The GP team will follow that with an R3 release in early 2016 that will introduce a new web client that uses an HTML5-based interface that can handle multiple browsers and devices.

Customers and partners learned at Convergence 2015 that Dynamics GP 2015 R2 will introduce a new "all-in-one" document viewer that can trace a chain of documents through business processes managed in GP. For example, if a vendor calls to inquire on a purchase order, a GP user could use the all-in-one viewer to see the items that fall within the lifecycle of that purchase order - documents like a receipt, payables voucher, invoices, and payments. The viewer will allow for drill down into a single record's information and document connections. For example, for a shipment, the viewer will display the associated posting data, landed cost,  and purchase orders. Or for a specific purchase order, the view can be filtered down to show the specific receipts and invoices as the order went through its lifecycle.

Purchasing will be the first area to get this document all-in-one viewer tool. It will eventually be able to handle sales and inventory scenarios  as well, according to R&D principal program manager Chad Sogge, speaking at Convergence 2015.
