The Connect Corner: Include Multicurrency Vouchers in Payment Run

On the Dynamics GP Blogster blog, Mariano Gomez wrote that recently he's been thinking about how to improve the Microsoft Dynamics GP payables management module.

Although the payables management module of Dynamics GP offers more support and functionality for multicurrency transactions than other solutions out there, the level of automation for certain payment selection activities could be improved, he wrote.

For example, say your company has a supplier based in Canada that has a subsidiary in Dearborn, Michigan. For some materials, you must order from the Michigan location, while for others you are required to order directly from the company's headquarters in Canada.

To make things easier, you've been told to all remit payments to the Michigan office. However, the materials you received from the Canada office are invoiced in Canadian dollars.

Here are 3 invoices you have received:

  • Vendor A ; Invoice 1; CA$10.00
  • Vendor A; Invoice 2; US$20.00
  • Vendor A; Invoice 3; US$30.00

The problem is that if you build a payment batch in Dynamics GP (using US dollars as functional currency), the only invoices that will be selected are invoices 2 and 3, Gomez wrote.
