  • Dynamics GP: Does GL batch size affect posting performance?
  • Clicking 'submit' on a VAT return doesn't open HMRC login window and no obligations error

What are bookmarks and how are they used in Dynamics GP Word Templates?

On the Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog, Nicole Fiskum stated that when many users first start troubleshooting Word templates, they probably don't understand what bookmarks are or how to use them in GP Word templates.

In her post, Fiskum discussed the default Dynamics GP Word template bookmarks, how users can see which bookmarks are on their Word templates, and where the default GP bookmarks should be located on a template document.

You can read about how bookmarks are used in Dynamics GP here.

Dynamics GP: Does GL batch size affect posting performance?

On his blog, Steve Endow wrote about some "exciting" questions he regularly asks himself, such as:

If you need to post 50,000 journal entries in Dynamics GP, should you create one batch with 50,000 JEs? Or should you create 5,000 batches with 10 JEs each? [and] If you have the option to import 10,000 JEs with two lines each, or a single JE with 20,000 lines, which should you choose?

In his blog post, Endow stated that he imported a large number of standard general ledger journal entries into Dynamics GP to test performance and record some posting benchmarks. His goal was to understand how the size of a GL batch size and the size of the journal entries affects Dynamics GP general ledger posting performance.

Endow stated that he was surprised at the results. You can find out why here.
