Enhancing Business Central with the free visual scheduling app

An author writing on the Insight Works blog noted that manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to streamline operations and boost production levels. The author stated that Dynamics 365 Business Central offers an integrated ERP solution tailored to industries with a significant focus on manufacturing.

However, the author explained that while D365BC supports companies with tracking production needs, supply chain management, and ensuring timely deliveries, it still has some shortcomings. In the blog post, the author wrote that manufacturers have identified certain areas where D365BC could be improved, including visualization.

While Business Central assists with scheduling, a visual representation of workstation schedules would simplify the scheduling processes considerably.

The author noted that to give manufacturers the additional support they need, Insight Works has created the Graphical Scheduler app, a free tool specifically that's designed to fill the gaps in D365BC and tailored for the manufacturing industry. The free Graphical Scheduler app is available on AppSource.

How to access admin center API in Business Central

Writing on his blog, Alberto Soben noted that the D365BC admin center API makes it easier for organizations to manage apps and environments as it offers them a fast way to access the admin center functionality without accessing the user interface.

Soben explained that the admin center API is only available for cloud environments and the way to access D365BC APIs is via Azure and using OAuth. In his blog post, Soben offered details about the basics of the API from app registration to authentication to managing environments and managing applications.

After you register the application, you have to authorize the application in the D365 admin center under Microsoft Entra Apps (former Azure Active Directory). If you don’t, Soben pointed out that you'll get a 401 unauthorized error when you try to connect.

He then explained the authentication process as well as how to manage environments and applications.
