ISVs Prepare for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 - Part 1: Development in Full Gear

With the coming release of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, expected in late 2011, ISVs have been hard at work upgrading their solutions.

Experienced Dynamics partners know it is imperative to be ready to handle a new release when it hits the market. That means building up a team of well-trained service professionals, developers, and support personnel - not to mention compatible add-on solutions.

Customers of RF-SMART, developers of mobile, RFID and warehouse intelligence solutions for Dynamics AX, are already in the process of working with pre-release builds of AX 2012.

"We have been working side-by-side with [our customers] for a considerable amount of time to make sure RF-SMART is ready for AX 2012, and it is ready," said Michael Morales, vice president of products, RF-SMART. "Our process is centered around working to meet customer commitment, so working alongside our customers as they're being exposed to AX 2012."

Netherlands-based To-Increase, has benefited in its AX 2012 planning from a long-term discussion with Microsoft as AX 2012 evolved over the past two years. "We started the technology adoption program in 2009 and at To-Increase we were involved in the specification design sessions to determine the direction Microsoft was going to take with AX 2012," said Bjorn Kuijt, VP of Product Management, To-Increase. "So from 2009 forward as things progressed we were able to refine our internal planning process about how we were going to upgrade our solutions, what it was going to entail, what do we need to do, how we would benefit from the new capabilities and stack integration that are going to come out in 2012. So we've been busy upgrading primarily our integration solutions and our vertical solutions for industrial manufacturing."
