The Biggest Microsoft Dynamics AX Stories of 2015

by Jason Gumpert

In 2015, Microsoft gave the market nearly everything it needed to prepare for the new Dynamics AX (formerly known by codename "AX 7") - except for the released software. With so much said already about the release, including technical training, conference sessions, go-lives for TAP customers, and a public preview program, the official release, expected in early 2016, may be something of a non-event.

But there was in fact more happening in the Dynamics AX community this year. While the new Dynamics AX has been hugely important for resellers in 2015 as they (hopefully) prepared their teams for the new reality of ERP on Azure, existing customers faced more typical concerns around earlier releases, up to and including AX 2012 R3.

For a "best of" piece on the top performing Dynamics AX articles on MSDynamicsWorld.com in 2015, it is only fair to divide the list between the new Dynamics AX and everything else. And in terms of page views, it was the new Dynamics AX that ruled the day for MSDW this year. So let's start with top stories related to the new product, then, below, we will revisit the other top articles of the year.

Top Articles About The New Dynamics AX

Microsoft Dynamics AX 7 will launch on Azure first, with promises of better upgrade experience (May 20, 2015)

Early in 2015, the planned release timeframe for the new AX was late 2015. That has since slipped by a few months. As we reported in May, there was already discussion in the community about the risks and benefits of an upgrade to the new release. One consideration: migrating from fixed licenses to a subscription structure.
