6 Underused Features of Microsoft Dynamics GP

I spend lots of time with users of Dynamics GP. I do these crazy 50 Tips in 50 Minutes for Dynamics GP presentations and I wrote a book on getting more out of Dynamics GP but I keep running into companies who aren't getting the most out of Dynamics GP. Despite being long time GP users, many companies still need education on new and useful features. As a result I decided to highlight what I think are the most underused features in Dynamics GP.

Revenue and Expense Deferrals - Most companies have revenue and expense deferral needs even if they are only simple needs like managing prepaid insurance. Revenue and Expense deferrals in Dynamics GP provides a way to manage deferrals at either the point of the transaction or after the fact. The module can be setup to allow the user to enter the ultimate expense account and then defer it or use a deferral account in the transaction.

Electronic Funds Transfer - EFT for Payables and EFT for Receivables provides a mechanism for electronic payment. An awful lot of companies still tell me that they want to do EFT for Payables but they just haven't gotten around to it. Well, get around to it. The setup is easy. It will take longer to get the setup information from the bank than to setup module. At least EFT for Payables is on companies radar. EFT for Receivables isn't even an afterthought. Yet, EFT for Receivables provides a great mechanism to improve collections by collecting direct payments from customers. Again the setup is easy.
