2022 Year in Review: Microsoft Dynamics 365 expert insights

When subject matter experts in the Microsoft Dynamics community wrote about products, processes, and industries in 2022, they took a range of approaches, from product previews to customer best practices to industry outlook. Looking back through the year's contributions, the result was a refreshingly well-rounded set of articles that reinforce the idea that technology decision makers need to keep a broad perspective moving into 2023.

Let's look back at some of the articles that resonated with our audience this year from across the Dynamics 365 product line. 

It's Time: How Dynamics 365 users should prepare for Azure Synapse Link for Dataverse (May 10, 2022)

Microsoft Dynamics analytics expert Kirk Donahoe helped spread the word this year that the end is rapidly approaching for the use of the Data Export Service to extract your data from Dataverse. He introduces Azure Synapse Link for Dataverse, which allows you to configure a near-real-time trickle feed into an Azure Data Lake. The service is easy to configure, and Donahoe suggests several ways to  address typical challenges, both technical and organizational.

5 Accounting and Finance Problems SOLVED by Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 (Feb 1, 2022)

Cynthia Priebe's excitement for updates in Business Central is easy to feel in this review of ways to make the latest updates really work for users. For example, the Deferral feature got an update adding important new fields in the General Ledger Setup to allow posting dates to be opened for deferrals only, not other postings.

Top three retail industry trends of 2022 & 2023 (Oct 25, 2022)

Salman Hashmi's analysis takes on both the threats and opportunities that abound in today's market. Changing customer buying patterns, supply chain risks, and workforce challenges are all top of mind, as is the continued search for novel ways to use technology in larger strategies.

My Dynamics 365 Business Central priorities for Microsoft in 2022 (June 20, 2022)

Microsoft MVP James Crowter has a knack for catching the attention of Microsoft with his annual wish lists, and he continued the tradition this year. His thoughts range from customization standards to marketplace progress to training to app streamlining. "I could come up with many more if I tried, but that would be greedy," he remarked.
