I truly wished that Microsoft had provided the BEST of both worlds. I can certainly understand the desire, and need, to represent Microsoft PRODUCTS as a Microsoft Partner. On the other hand, being able to embed my own IP, creativity and differentiation and be able to Whitelabel my own product has a real appeal. I don't understand why it needs to be a binary switch with Microsoft.
