Microsoft's first release of Dynamics 365 Commerce officially launches

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce reached general availability this week. The product, an evolution of Dynamics 365 Retail, launches with new and improved capabilities for e-commerce, content management, and more.

Microsoft first announced plans to introduce D365 Commerce in September 2019, with the addition of their own in-house e-commerce engine getting the most attention. Other key updates include a content management system, pre-built AI models to support retail sales, and integrations to other D365 apps including Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, Customer Engagement, Fraud Protection, Supply Chain Management, Finance, and Marketing.

Soon after the announcement, Microsoft laid out a range of product priorities for Commerce. Some of those areas, like integrations and POS interface updates, appear to have made it into this release while others remain on the roadmap for 2020 release wave 1 or later.
