The low-key launch of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3: Reviewing a year of news

Today, May 1, is the official launch date for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3. Considering the range of acquired and newly developed features, it's considered a huge update to be just an "R3" for an older release. But there is another major release - 'Rainier' - targeted (probably) for 2015, which is expected to focus more on fundamental architectural changes like public cloud deployment, new user interface models, and more device scenarios.
