Microsoft Dynamics GP is not dead.

That was the central message in the opening session of this week's Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Conference 2011, according to Mariano Gomez, Microsoft MVP at IntellPartners LLC.

One of Microsoft's goals for the conference was to reassure the partner community of its commitment to the Dynamics GP product line, Gomez explained in a new blog post.

Management Reporter

I'm interested in learning more about the issues with Management Reporter. We are currently standing up a test GP 2010 environment in order to stand up Management Reporter, We are using Analytical Accounting module. What kind of issues are we likely to face? Will we be able to overcome these or should we be waiting for GP 2010 R2?

Thank you,

Management Reporter with AA

I hate to say it but I would wait for R2.

When using AA, you cannot use a Dimension Filter on a periodic column, only a YTD column. Microsoft is actively working on this issue, we're hoping for a correction in R2, but it is not definate.

A few things to watch for:
-SQL Database names must be in all CAPs, otherwise the the databases will not create in Management Reporter.
-The Migration Wizard does not completely bring reports over, they require so much manual work, that you are almost building the reports over again.
-There are some services that need to be run just to install the application. Please read over documentation VERY carefully.
-You must be on a domain network. A Workgroup network or single user install will not allow for installation.
