Linda, AL is not a new language but it is more than 20 years old. Microsoft is just making some minor changes to the syntax and moving part of the development to Visual Studio Code.

The main point is, whether it is still possible to modify the standard NAV objects or not, either within Visual Studio Code Editor or elsewhere. Because, if this is not possible anymore, a considerable part of customized solutions will not be transformable into the new extension model. This will soon have an impact on the popularity of Dynamics NAV.
