Secure Enterprise Apps only the Start to BYOD Security Policy

If you are one of the growing number of workers who want the ability to use your own device(s) and work from the comfort of your living room or the commuter train or poolside, the increase of business-based apps is only good news. Until recently, apps were designed for primarily for pleasure because that's what our smartphones and tablets were also designed for. Over the last year, however, we saw BYOD explode on the work scene.

BYOD

Microsoft is just started on making BYOD security apps, but there are several that have been around for sometime now. At the hospital I was working at, we use Tigertext for provide HIPAA compliant text messaging. This app was installed on our phones and tablets, and allows for HIPAA compliant texting, video transfer and Dropbox file transfers, all without a big MDM system. For our application is it a great solution. Obviously it won't fit everyone BYOD needs, but I think Microsoft might need to address niche BYOD application with more than one app.
