SaaSPlaza offers Office 365 integration for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 Windows client

Hosting services provider SaaSPlaza has a new single sign on capability for the Windows client of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 and Office 365.

Office 365 interoperability was a highlight of Microsoft's NAV 2013 R2 release back in October 2013, but single sign on is limited to the web client. As we reported in the lead up to the release, R2 features improved interoperability with Office 365, including single sign on, deployment to SharePoint sites (Online and on-premise), as well as multitenant hosting on both Azure and partner-hosted deployments.

Delivered as part of the company's Cloud Portal offering, the authentication mechanism is based on Access Control Service (ACS), a Windows Azure-based service for authenticating and authorizing users for web applications and services. It also relies on the single sign-on capabilities that come with NAV 2013 and Office 365 Active Directory synchronization. It is intended to work with the Windows client running on-premise at the customer site, according to Dennis Schut, VP of cloud strategy and software services at SaaSPlaza.

The Cloud Autmotion portal also allows partners to provision Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 on Windows Azure or the SaaSplaza cloud in just minutes.

Office 365 has been an important component of the Dynamics NAV vision for over a year now.  As early as last January, Microsoft was talking up its vision for broader, cloud-based access to data via Office 365. Key integration points include access to SharePoint Online and Exchange Online, as well as unified communication via Lync.
