Microsoft's Nadella Appointment Offers a Bright Prospect for Dynamics

Any executive who understands the importance of the cloud in today's business should thank heaven for the appointment of Satya Nadella as chief executive officer of Microsoft. Only the third person ever to head the corporation, Nadella most recently served as executive vice president of cloud and enterprise for Microsoft, a company where he has spearheaded major strategy and technical shifts since 1992.

Until 2013, Nadella led Microsoft's server and tools division. Combine that experience with his successful work in advancing cloud and enterprise engineering and it's clear that the 107 percent growth of Microsoft commercial cloud services in the last quarter can largely be attributed to Nadella's leadership.

The man most responsible for transporting Microsoft to the cloud is a great proponent of Microsoft Dynamics. He was involved in the growth of the Dynamics business from 2001 to 2007 and therefore knows Dynamics from top to bottom, from host to desktop. He has been one of Microsoft's primary resources for analysts seeking to understand the future of Dynamics and the Microsoft Azure cloud service.

Of equal importance, Nadella understands Microsoft Dynamics customers and embraces their needs. Customer reaction to his appointment has been nearly universally enthusiastic, because he has been a strong supporter of the Dynamics community, recognizing the value of users coming together to share ideas that allow them to do more with their Dynamics ERP and CRM products.

A principal target for the growth of the Dynamics business over the next few years will be large enterprises, and that sector is where Nadella has built unrivaled expertise in the technology marketplace.
