Microsoft Dynamics GP Product Team Gives MVPs First Look at Development Progress

Mark Polino reports on his blog today that he and other Microsoft Dynamics GP MVPs were offered a "super-secret, cross my heart, pinkie promise, non-disclosure, I can tell you but then I'll have to kill you" look at the upcoming version of Dynamics GP. 

Of interest, according to Polino's report, is the fact that Microsoft is stressing the importance of Microsoft Connect in determining the priority of new features and enhancements.  He writes:

"It's clear that the product team is using Microsoft Connect (the site, not Kinect the Xbox motion sensor thingy) to figure out what users want and need in future releases. If you are not using Microsoft Connect start now and make your voice heard."

In a recent look at Microsoft Connect itself,  there are clearly some active GP suggestions, and plenty older suggestions that have been closed.  Recent suggestions include things like the ability to email SOP invoices with Word templates (6 votes), the need for new eConnect schemas for GP's Manufacturing module (2 votes), and adding the ability to set credit limits against customers by currency (2 votes).  Many other open requests are not seeing much action, sitting patiently with a single upvote.  

In recent months, Microsoft has revealed various details of its plans for GP 12, with a focus on the big picture of cloud readiness and the addition of a browser-based client in Internet Explorer with Silverlight that can do on-the-fly conversion of Dexterity-based customizations.  Another focus area is to "pushing for a very deep integration to common systems like Microsoft Dynamics CRM and ...
