Microsoft has announced plans to extend Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online to its datacenters in Australia by the end of March 2015.

These locally hosted services will be delivered from two existing datacenters in New South Wales and Victoria. The launch follows on the heels of the launch of local Azure services in October, according to company officials.

Last month, Microsoft announced that it was extending its cloud services in Japan with new local datacenters supporting both Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online. Microsoft will offer Japan locally hosted Office 365 services before the end of calendar 2014, and Dynamics CRM Online by the end of the first quarter of calendar year 2015. Microsoft has been delivering Microsoft Azure from datacenters in two regions in Japan (Japan East and Japan West) since February of 2014.

For organizations in Australia, the benefits of locally hosted services include reduced latency, data residency and the ability to better comply with local regulations. Microsoft officials expect that customers will include those in the healthcare, education, government and financial services sectors.

Microsoft has also expanded its Cloud Solution Provider program to Australia. The program aims to give local partners complete ownership of the customer lifecycle, including; billing, provisioning, management and support, according to officials. The program is now open more broadly for partners to join and existing CSP partners will begin introducing their solutions to market over the coming weeks.
