Ten ISV Products That Microsoft Should Buy and Incorporate into Dynamics GP

Microsoft Dynamics GP has a large, robust marketplace of independent software vendor (ISV) solutions designed to enhance the core product. With the recent downsizing going on across Microsoft, perhaps it's time to advance the product by acquisition again.

Microsoft has a long history of acquiring products designed to work with Dynamics GP and incorporating them into the ERP system.  Fixed Assets, Banking and Field Service are all examples of products that were purchased and rolled into Dynamics GP and its predecessors over the years. With that thought in mind I've compiled my top 10 list of current ISV solutions that I think Microsoft should buy and roll into Dynamics GP.

So many things should be...

Salespad! It's what sales orders should be.

Ethotech CommissionPlan

Agree

Sales Pad should be #1 on the list...takes care of everything from order entry, light CRM (imagine, basic CRM functionality included with your GP, level the playing field against SAP Business One) credit card processing and the ability to add on data collections and shipping for warehouse management at an extremely reasonable cost. Sales Pad is fantastic!

Also...Horizon's Manufacturing. Handles discrete, process and mixed-mode manufacturing. Beat out both Syspro and SAP Business One with the combination of Horizon's and Sales Pad. Closed two deal this year with them.

How about SalesPad and a good WMS

Negative Payroll Transactions

Negative Payroll Transactions by Integrity Data is a must have for payroll.

CDA and Commission Plan

I'll nominate Company Data Archive from the folks at Professional Advantage.

And I have to second the nomination of Commission Plan from EthoTech. John Stulak's team is unfazed by even the most convoluted compensation plans.

Does MS care what Dynamics users need?

I don’t think MS cares enough about its serious accounting users, to provide the solutions we need. On top of the exorbitant prices MS charges for Dynamics and the maintenance plans, we're forced to buy add-on products or spend megabucks for custom development, just to get what we need. MS probably thinks that's a good solution for them financially. Even old DOS-based GP Accounting had some great features that MS still hasn’t bothered to add into Dynamics.

good list

we already recommend smartfill with each GP implementation....

Agree with most...

I do agree with most of these Mark! I also agree that SalesPad should definitely be added, it is my new 'FAVORITE' add-on. I also love Papersave's doc imaging and AZOX ecommerce as add-ons, but I realize the competition is very aggressive for those products, so I understand you leaving those out.
P.S. - I enjoyed your disclaimers!

A great list of powerful and useful add-ons for Great Plains

I too put my feet up at GPUG Summit in Rockton's "lounge" at the expo.
Thanks Mark...!
