12 Ways Hyper-Relations Can Get Behind the Numbers

by Morten Middelfart
CTO, TARGIT,

Business intelligence is the seamless journey from data discovery to reporting and analytics. A true Business intelligence solution takes you from point A to point B in the fastest, most intuitive way possible.

Reports answer the question, "what happened?" They take the data that comes into the Business Intelligence platform, and process it into the metrics and figures needed to answer the question.

Analyses answer the question, "how and why did it happen?" They look behind that first static figure and reveal all of the numbers that went into it, and they allow a user to change perspective of the data set to learn what it is that prompted the numbers to say what they do.

Getting from "what" to "how and why" should utilize the latest technology to make the process simple, insightful, and achievable in only one click. We call this technology hyper relations. The easiest and most direct way to describe hyper-relations technology is to say it's the way that a user of Business Intelligence software can navigate from a static report to a dynamic analysis in only one click.

Hyper-relations technology is intelligent, learning the way users want to see data represented without making an assumption about the analytics' breakdown. This means you will get the visualizations you prefer every time you click on a figure in a particular type of report. By adapting so closely to your preferences, hyper-relations significantly reduces the time needed to get to the bottom of a question; and most importantly, what to do about it.

Here are several ways that every department in a business can use hyper-relations technology to gain the most insight possible from their data:
